The Saturday Sip: April 15, 2023
Your etiquette tip, quote and an Emily Post Cookbook recipe to start your weekend off right!
The Tip
When it comes to the etiquette around our names, let’s just say, it’s personal. Names and nicknames are very personal to us. And as such, we want to take great care with them. Pronouncing someone’s name properly, only using a nickname if you’re invited to, honoring another’s choice of name, and not commenting on someone’s name being “unusual” or “interesting” are important points of etiquette to get right when it comes to names.
The Recipes
This barbecue sauce recipe is one of Lizzie’s favorites, not because of the outcome but because of how it’s written. Including each measurement in the directions, Emily makes it easy for the cook to move straight through without bouncing back over to the ingredients list. Though she does lament that Emily left her last suggestion until the end - “Now she tells us?!!”
